MILIEU LEGAL
Your information.
Your choices.
Terms of use and privacy notice for MilieuLegal.com and the Milieu Legal app. Understand what is processed, where your work goes, and how to exercise your rights.
The iPhone and iPad app provides local document tools without an account. Its privacy practices are described in iPhone and iPad app below. The online service has separate account, processing, and age requirements.
Milieu ID update: If a document scan or the complete headshot and head-turn capture cannot finish within 30 seconds, you can continue with an unverified account and return later. Read the scan options, chip-reader availability, consent, and private records policy. Email and phone verification remain part of account creation. Passport-chip readings, where a compatible reader is available, supplement the required document images and human identity review. Review how citation checks use your information and the accuracy, hallucination, and liability terms before relying on or filing any output.
Super Intelligence analysis, transcription, storage, and sharing are separate actions. Review the information and recipient before continuing.
Export account information, manage connected services, and request deletion. Device and provider copies have separate controls.
Use the privacy request options for access, correction, deletion, consent withdrawal, or an appeal.
iPhone and iPad app: local document tools
The native iPhone and iPad app lets you scan paper documents, import chosen files, write drafts, create PDFs, and organize local copies without creating an account. These local tools are for general use; the online service’s age-18 account requirement does not apply to them. Younger users may need help from a parent or guardian when choosing permissions or sharing documents.
Documents, scans, draft text, file names, and searches are processed on your device. The app does not send this content to Milieu Legal and does not include advertising, tracking, analytics, or an online assistant. Camera access is requested only when you choose to scan pages. Imports use the files you select in Apple’s file picker.
Drafts and local documents use iOS file protection. Documents are also available through the Files app. Device backups may include app data according to your Apple and device settings. Deleting a local copy does not delete the original imported file, an exported or shared copy, or a copy in a device backup. Use the app’s delete controls and the relevant device, backup, or recipient controls for those copies.
When you choose Share or an external link, the app hands the action to iOS or your browser. The destination you choose may receive the selected file or information you provide, under its own terms and privacy practices. The separate Milieu Legal online service has accounts, Super Intelligence, and other connected features. Opening that website does not upload your local documents automatically.
The online service’s Milieu ID notice describes its separate capture consent and option to continue unverified after a failed scan. The local document scanner captures page images; it is not a passport-chip reader. Supplemental chip scanning is available only when the online service identifies a compatible enabled native reader. It does not replace the document images used for identity review.
TV campaign measurement
Our TV landing page uses first-party measurement to count visits, plan and signup button use, and completed account creation. A source cookie distinguishes QR arrivals from direct visits for up to 30 days; a separate 30-minute cookie reduces repeat visit counts. These aggregate counters contain no names, email addresses, IP addresses, legal matter contents, or identity records. When you start a web subscription on the same browser, the campaign and source labels may be stored with your Stripe checkout and subscription records so we can measure paid signups. These labels do not establish that the advertisement caused a purchase. We honor Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals for this measurement. You can also clear or block cookies to stop later source attribution. Payment records follow the retention described below.
Optional Vibe ad measurement: Optional server-to-server advertising measurement remains off unless this browser already has a valid, separate opt-in confirming an adult visitor in the United States. No tracking banner or automatic consent is used. A previously granted choice expires after 30 days. With that permission, we may send Vibe a generic visit event and a Lead event when a new account is successfully created, together with the visitor’s IPv4 address, event time, and an opaque event identifier. A 30-minute cookie reduces repeat visit events. No names, email addresses, raw account identifiers, page URLs, referrers, form fields, legal work, documents, or Milieu ID records are supplied. We do not load Vibe JavaScript in the workspace or send Purchase events to Vibe. First paid web subscriptions remain measured separately through the first-party Stripe-backed counters described above.
Vibe may combine and share advertising identifiers for matching, measurement, and advertising as described in its Services Privacy Policy. You can decline without affecting service access. Use the control below to withdraw permission for future events. Withdrawal does not recall events already received. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track override earlier permission. Measurement is also skipped when a supported US IPv4 connection cannot be established. We do not store visitor IP addresses in the campaign counters. Generic delivery-status counters help diagnose failures; accepted requests are not proof of attribution. Consent choices, blockers, changed networks, and household matching mean reporting is incomplete and cannot prove that an ad caused a signup.
Privacy notice
Milieu Legal is operated by HOME MILIEU LLC, an Indiana limited liability company (business ID 202403261777865), using the Milieunomics Institute name. In this notice, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to that operator. Contact us at legal@milieupower.com for privacy, security, or account questions.
The information collection and connected-feature descriptions below concern the Milieu Legal online service, including MilieuLegal.com and the Android app’s online workspace. The native iPhone and iPad app’s local practices are described in the section above. Connected providers, court systems, recipients, and your sign-in provider also have their own responsibilities and privacy policies. A provider is not connected merely because we list a link to it.
We use personal information to provide the tools you request, maintain accounts, process purchases, communicate about the service, prevent abuse, respond to requests, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell your legal work or identity information or use it for advertising. The homepage and public TV landing page offer optional Vibe server-to-server ad measurement, with the data sharing and choices described above. Private workspace and account pages do not include advertising pixels, and we do not use session-replay analytics. We do not use your matter content to operate our own model-training program.
Legal documents may contain highly sensitive information. Use the minimum information needed. Platform communications do not automatically receive attorney-client privilege, and an account does not create an attorney-client relationship.
Information we process and why
| Information | Source and purpose |
|---|---|
| Account and identity | Your account identifier, username, legal and display names, email, verified phone number, contact and address details, profile choices, optional photo, claimed professional role, terms acceptance, and verification status. You provide these details; email and text codes confirm control of the supplied contact channels. Milieu ID processes the private identity evidence and review records described below. |
| Private identity and attorney evidence | Government photo ID or passport images, live face images and video, available document text, barcode or passport MRZ data, capture checks, review notes and decisions, document expiry and next-review dates. With separate consent and an available compatible reader, a supplemental chip scan can add permitted raw chip data, decoded identity fields and portrait, reader information, and authentication results. We also record consent version and time, scan method, attempt times, and completion or deferral status. Attorneys may submit licenses, admission records, or court orders and any case restrictions or validity dates for a separate authorization review. |
| Matter and document content | Facts, case identifiers, parties, contacts, messages, drafts, files, financial affidavits, court orders, and information you choose to enter or save. Used for document preparation, organization, requested Super Intelligence processing, and authorized review. Content can include health, financial, immigration, or other sensitive information. |
| Milieu Cite documents and research | Locally read DOCX/PDF files, extracted or pasted text, edits, citation metadata, source records, and treatment results support citation review and corrected exports. Basic checks send case, statute, regulation, constitutional, or court-rule citations and detected case-name, court, and year metadata through our server to supported research sources, not the full document. Separate Will, storage, and sharing actions have their own data flows. See Milieu Cite privacy. |
| Camera, audio, and video | Media you capture or select, speech, transcripts, speaker labels, images, and sampled video frames. Used for the capture, transcription, analysis, or storage action you choose. Camera and microphone permission alone does not authorize every later use. |
| Language preferences and translations | Your selected site language and cached translations of public interface text are stored in this browser when storage is available. The service receives the requested language and identifiers for approved public text to provide page translations. Will also receives your selected response language with requests you authorize. A separate spoken-language choice can help transcription recognize speech. |
| Connected services and sharing | Provider identifiers, authorization tokens, file names and paths, meetings, calendar and docket information, recipients, invitations, and download activity. Obtained from you, connected providers, public court sources, or other users who involve you in a matter. Used to perform and document authorized actions. |
| Billing and service usage | Plan, payment customer and purchase identifiers, receipts, renewal status, credit balances, request counts, and transaction history. Used for entitlements, billing, reconciliation, fraud prevention, and refunds. Payment providers handle payment-card information; Milieu Legal does not store full card numbers. |
| Support, safety, and technical data | Requests you send us, selected Super Intelligence reports, review outcomes, browser/device and request information, IP-related security data, error information, and pseudonymous rate-limit identifiers. Used for assistance, safety, reliability, and enforcement. Hosting and identity services may maintain their own request and security logs. |
We do not require a full Social Security number, payment-card number, identity document, or account password in Talk to Will. Redact unnecessary identifiers before uploading evidence. If a required court form needs an identifier, follow the court’s confidential-filing rules and avoid sending it to Super Intelligence unnecessarily.
Milieu ID and attorney authorization review
Your private identity submission: Milieu ID uses front and back images of a driver’s license or state photo ID, or an image of the passport identity page, together with a face photo and live head-turn recording. Document images remain part of the review even when you add a chip scan. The guided process captures your document and face after you grant camera access and accept the displayed identity consent. Capture may advance automatically when the document or face is positioned and in focus. Available PDF417 barcode, QR, document-text, and passport MRZ readings and face-position or head-movement checks are advisory review information. OpenAI processes submitted document images to extract legible printed text where available. Separate face photos and recordings are excluded from this text extraction. A successful capture or extraction does not establish government issuance, document authenticity, or an approved verification.
Additional RFID/NFC evidence and availability: Compatible electronic passports may contain a contactless chip. Reading it requires a supported native reader and an enabled Milieu ID integration; ordinary browser NFC cannot read passport chips. The scan screen shows whether a compatible reader is available. If none is available, the chip option cannot perform a scan. A REAL ID designation does not establish chip compatibility. Indiana driver’s licenses and state IDs use the image and available barcode process in Milieu ID. A supplemental chip scan never replaces the required front and back ID images or passport image.
Chip records and their limits: After your separate chip-scan consent, a supported reader may supply identity fields, document and issuing-country details, portrait, permitted raw data groups and document security data, reader and scan metadata, and signed authentication results. We retain the successfully read, authorized information supplied for the identity review. We do not bypass protected chip access, request restricted fingerprint or iris groups, or retain chip-access passwords or session encryption keys. A completed read, a check of a reader’s signed response, a document-authentication result, and a comparison to your images are distinct results. None alone grants the Milieu ID mark or establishes that you are the document holder. Chip evidence is supplemental to the document images and administrator review.
Continue if capture fails: Creating an account does not require successful Milieu ID capture. After a document-scan attempt or the complete face-photo and head-turn attempt has run for 30 seconds without completing, you may stop and continue with an unverified account. The face limit includes camera and capture setup, not only the recorded video. An unavailable reader, denied permission, or capture failure can offer an earlier exit. Email and phone verification and the account terms still apply. Skipping stops the active capture and does not grant identity or attorney verification, submit unfinished camera evidence automatically, or remove evidence you already submitted. You can retry through Milieu ID. Features that expressly require approved identity verification remain subject to that requirement; a failed scan alone does not prevent ordinary account access.
Human approval and ongoing validity: Authorized site administrators review the evidence, extracted details, and logged checks in the private Milieu ID review portal. They may approve, decline, request corrected evidence, or require renewal. Only an approved and current review displays the Milieu ID verification mark. Document expiry, the administrator’s next-review date, a changed submission, or revocation can remove that mark. Identity review must be renewed at least annually, and earlier if the document or recorded validity expires. You can view your status and submit a replacement through Milieu ID.
Separate attorney verification: People claiming attorney status may upload the license, admission evidence, or court order that authorizes their Indiana practice. Supply the attorney number where applicable, issuing authority, expiry or review date, and the case or scope limits of any order. Administrators review these documents in the same private portal and decide attorney verification separately from identity. A court order can authorize a particular matter without establishing unrestricted statewide licensure. The attorney mark follows the recorded scope and validity; a profile claim or uploaded document alone does not create it. Keep administrators informed of suspension, revocation, expiry, changed court authority, or other restrictions.
Consent, access, and retention: General account terms do not authorize identity capture or biometric processing. Accepting the separate consent shown before the relevant capture authorizes that capture, available extraction and guidance, private storage, and authorized human review for account verification. This information can include sensitive biometric or citizenship information contained in your evidence. We record the consent version and time with the submission. Your materials are available only through authorized account-holder and administrator access, not directory search or matter messages, and are not used for advertising or our own model training. Submitted media, extracted document information, and supplemental chip evidence are available for up to 90 days from submission. Expired evidence is blocked from retrieval and removed from active storage during subsequent cleanup, subject to the lawful-hold and backup rules under Storage and retention. Minimal consent, attempt, decision, validity, and audit records may remain longer for account security and verification administration. Use Your privacy choices to request access, correction, deletion, or consent withdrawal. Removing required evidence can prevent or end verification without requiring deletion of your ordinary account. Do not send identification through a public profile, matter message, or ordinary email.
Profile visibility, search, and matter messages
You choose whether to participate in the people directory and which supported profile fields are public or searchable. Email and phone lookup require an exact match and the applicable search permission. Search access requires an account and is subject to rate limits. A field permitted for finding your account is not automatically published in the result. Private contact details, addresses, identity media, review notes, and attorney evidence are not released merely because an account matches a search.
Public profile fields and current verification marks can be seen according to your visibility choices. Review each choice before saving it. Making information public allows others to copy it, and changing a setting does not recall copies already received.
Finding a person or adding a contact does not automatically grant access to your matter or its files. Matter membership requires the applicable invitation and acceptance. Direct matter messages are available only to authorized participants and the selected recipient within that matter. Membership revocation stops future access through the service, but cannot recall previously viewed messages or downloaded copies. Sharing a matter or sending a message does not perform court filing or legal service, create an attorney-client relationship, or authorize disclosure of information you lack authority to share.
Who receives information
| Recipient | Information and purpose |
|---|---|
| OpenAI and hosting infrastructure | OpenAI provides the platform environment and optional legacy account sign-in. A new Milieu Legal account can use email and phone verification without an OpenAI login. Cloudflare provides application, database, and private file infrastructure. They process account, request, and stored service data needed to run the application. OpenAI also processes the content you authorize for Super Intelligence and transcription. For page translation, OpenAI receives approved public interface text and a target language; Cloudflare stores reusable translations of that public text. |
| Dropbox (Milieu storage provider) | Selected originals, saved matter backups, drafts and conversations included in those backups, waiver orders, file metadata, and chosen recipients. Milieu storage uses your connected Dropbox account for storage and sharing under your Dropbox permissions. |
| Zoom and calendar providers | Meeting details, schedules, authorized recordings/transcripts, and calendar information. Your calendar provider receives information from feeds or files you subscribe to or import. |
| Stripe and Google Play | Account-linked purchase details and billing identifiers to process, verify, restore, manage, and refund purchases. Google may also receive Android app and device integrity information for supported security checks. |
| Milieu ID and authorized administrators | Milieu ID is the identity review process developed through Milieunomics Institute. Private ID images, live face captures, extracted document details, permitted chip evidence, attorney evidence, and consent, attempt, or review records are held in the service’s private infrastructure for the account holder and authorized site administrators. Available automated capture and extraction tools support that review. Identity materials are not public profile content and are not submitted to Will merely by completing Milieu ID. |
| Compatible chip reader, when enabled | An enabled native reader integration processes the document-chip information you authorize and returns permitted identity evidence and authentication results to Milieu ID. The chip option is unavailable unless a compatible reader is connected. Review the reader and processing notice presented before consenting; a device’s NFC setting alone does not activate a reader or authorize data sharing. |
| Email and text delivery | Resend receives your email address and requested verification, account, payment, or opted-in matter-notification message to deliver from press@milieulegal.com. TextBee and the configured SMS gateway receive your phone number and verification message to deliver a text code. Your mobile carrier also processes SMS delivery. Verification codes are for account access and must not be shared. |
| Court services | PACER receives credentials you enter in its connection flow; court and research services receive the queries and identifiers needed for your requested lookup. Following external filing links moves you into that provider’s service. |
| Milieu Cite research sources | CourtListener, Justia, Cornell Legal Information Institute, Harvard’s Caselaw Access Project, GovInfo, the Library of Congress, the official Indiana appellate decisions index, the Office of the Law Revision Counsel’s U.S. Code, eCFR, the Indiana General Assembly, and Indiana Judicial Branch rules receive the citation or case metadata needed for supported lookups, through Milieu Legal’s server. Sources reached through external links receive your selected query or record request directly. Availability and source-specific coverage vary. See Milieu Cite privacy. |
| Vibe (optional TV ad measurement) | After your opt-in on the public TV landing page, Vibe receives public page-view and browser/network information for TV ad attribution. It does not receive your legal work or identity evidence. You can decline or withdraw through that page’s Ad measurement control. |
| People you authorize and reviewers | Selected recipients receive shared information according to your chosen permissions. Authorized reviewers can access submitted waiver orders, selected Super Intelligence report text, and the private identity and attorney evidence submitted for their respective review functions. Support or security personnel may access information needed to address a request or incident. |
We may disclose information when legally required, to respond to valid legal process, protect rights and security, or complete a business transfer subject to applicable protections. These circumstances do not give us permission to publish your private matters. Information you file with a court or share publicly can become a public record or be copied by recipients.
Provider processing may occur in the United States and other countries where the provider operates. We do not promise a particular storage country. Where international-transfer safeguards are legally required, those requirements continue to apply.
Provider notices: OpenAI, Cloudflare, Dropbox, Zoom, Stripe, Google, Resend, TextBee.
Milieu Cite privacy
Milieu Cite is the citation research and document-correction feature on the Filing page, including the Android app’s online workspace. These details describe Milieu Cite’s processing separately from a request you send to Will.
Document reading and citation checks
Selecting or dropping a DOCX or PDF into Milieu Cite reads the file and extracts supported text on your device. Pasted text, the selected original, extracted text, edits, and displayed results are held in the open workspace. Importing a file or editing its text does not by itself upload the full document to our server, a research source, or OpenAI.
The document viewer renders your selected DOCX or PDF on your device, including supported source fonts, images, page settings, and other formatting. Corrected previews use the same source-preserving file preparation as downloads, Will, Milieu storage, and filing preparation. You can switch to the uploaded original for comparison. Documents and edits remain temporary in the open workspace until you choose a separate saving or sending action.
Importing or saving a document starts automatic citation checks. Selecting a filing court or county starts its applicable rule checks. These checks, including a manual refresh, send detected case, statute, regulation, constitutional, and court-rule citations and available case-name, court, and year metadata to Milieu Legal’s server. Unchanged source results and selected filing-rule results may be reused in memory for up to 15 minutes during the open session. You can stop research or refresh completed checks. The server uses that information to request matching authorities and later-treatment records from supported research sources. These include CourtListener, Justia, Cornell Legal Information Institute, Harvard’s Caselaw Access Project, GovInfo, the Library of Congress, the official Indiana appellate decisions index, the Supreme Court’s citation finder and opinion indexes, the Seventh Circuit opinion index, the Office of the Law Revision Counsel’s U.S. Code, eCFR, the Indiana General Assembly, and Indiana Judicial Branch rules, where supported and available. Verified details from a matched case may be reused to find its records at another supported source. The check returns source records, links, excerpts, treatment signals, law and rule identity and version-review findings, coverage notices, and check times. Full document text and the original file are not part of this citation-check request. This lookup does not itself send your document to Will or use OpenAI for Super Intelligence analysis.
Case-name metadata can contain personal names, and a citation or search can reveal the subject of your research. Automated extraction may misidentify text as citation metadata. Review your material and remove unnecessary sensitive details before checking. Use only information you are authorized to process, and do not include sealed, privileged, confidential, or another person’s sensitive information unless you have the required authority and safeguards. Neither local reading nor a citation check creates attorney-client privilege.
Separate actions and outside recipients
Opening a research link sends the linked query or record request to the selected provider, which may receive browser and network information under its own privacy policy. A listed source or link does not mean every source has been searched or that paid database access is included. The results identify available checks and access limits.
Upload to Will prepares the corrected document and stages a message for your review. Sending that message uses the separate Super Intelligence processing choice and express-consent action; OpenAI then receives the content described in that section. Save to Milieu sends the corrected file to your connected Dropbox account through our service. Milieu storage uses that connected provider; its permissions and storage limits apply. Download and Prepare for filing create a device copy; preparing a document does not submit it to a court. If you place content in a saved matter, send it to Will, or save or share a file, the corresponding storage, provider, and sharing provisions apply.
Retention and control
Milieu Cite does not maintain a separate server-side document or citation-result history for the basic check. Its open-page document and result state is temporary, so keep independent copies of work you need. Citation checking records usage counts with time-bucketed, hashed IP-based identifiers to limit abuse. Hosting and research providers may retain request or security logs under their own practices; this is not a promise of anonymity or zero retention. Downloaded originals and corrected files remain under your device and backup controls. Will, saved matter, Milieu storage copies held in Dropbox, and recipient copies follow the storage and retention terms. Use Your privacy choices to request access, correction, or deletion of information we hold.
Super Intelligence and sensitive information
Will is the Milieu Legal Super Intelligence assistant. The workspace provides separate controls for Will analysis and audio transcription. They are enabled by default so you can begin with a deliberate action. A checked control makes that feature available; it does not by itself authorize a transfer. Uncheck either control to block future processing for that purpose. Your choices are remembered in this browser when local storage is available. Manual preparation and other available tools remain accessible.
Express consent when you act: By choosing Agree & send to Will, you expressly consent to the analysis described below for your request. By starting Dictate, recording or importing media for Transcribe, or preparing audio/video for Will, you expressly consent to the corresponding speech processing. These actions can include sensitive information you choose to provide. Opening the page, typing, or accepting the general terms alone does not give this consent or send your content for analysis.
Super Intelligence analysis: Sending a message includes your message, current matter details, draft, prepared document header, recent conversation context, and the attachments prepared for that message. Will can also receive account-scoped summaries of your matters, document and file names, connected-service status, fee-waiver status, and the selected matter’s hearings, events, tracking results, and filing records so it can guide you between workflows. Connection credentials and Milieu ID evidence are not included in this workflow context. Image resizing, document extraction, and video frame sampling may change the representation supplied. Super Intelligence research can generate web-search queries from the request. Avoid unnecessary names or private facts in research questions.
Audio transcription: Dictate sends audio after you stop. Transcribe can send short sections while recording or processing imported media. Preparing audio or video attachments can also send audio for transcription before you send the final chat message. The separate audio choice controls these OpenAI requests. Browser-provided live dictation, where available, is also covered by the audio choice and may use the browser vendor’s speech service under its own permissions and policies.
The application asks OpenAI not to save generated responses as application history. This setting does not eliminate provider security logs or all legally required retention. OpenAI describes API model-training defaults and endpoint-specific retention in its API data-controls documentation. We do not promise zero retention, exclusive automated access, or confidentiality beyond the applicable service arrangements.
Sensitive information can include health diagnoses, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, citizenship or immigration status, identifying genetic or biometric information, precise location, and children’s data. Only include what is necessary for the selected feature. Consent for a requested processing action applies to that purpose; it is not consent to advertising, sale, unrelated model training, or public sharing.
You must have lawful authority to provide another person’s information. Your processing action does not substitute for that person’s consent where the law requires it. Do not upload another person’s sensitive information without the required permission or another valid legal basis. Outside the separately consented Milieu ID review of your own identity, do not use this service to identify people biometrically or to make eligibility decisions about employment, credit, housing, insurance, or other essential services.
Withdraw consent using the workspace choices or contact us to address stored information. Withdrawal stops future consent-based uses and does not recall data already transmitted or remove independent legal retention duties. This service does not establish a HIPAA business-associate agreement; organizations needing one must arrange appropriate terms before submitting protected health information.
Languages and translation
Your language, your choice: Use the language control to read the interface and these notices in an available language. You can return to English at any time. Your selection is remembered in this browser when local storage is available; it does not change your account, original files, or saved document text. Availability and quality vary by language, and untranslated text may remain in English.
Public page text: The translation service accepts identifiers for approved public interface text and the target language. It sends that public text to OpenAI when a translation is needed, requests that generated responses not be saved as application history, and caches reusable public translations in the browser and on our hosting infrastructure. Changing the page language does not submit your messages, matter facts, drafts, recordings, uploaded files, or form answers for translation. Ordinary hosting and processor security handling still applies as described above.
Conversations and private materials: Will receives your chosen response language with a request you deliberately send. You can ask Will to explain or translate content in another language. Sending that request uses the existing Super Intelligence processing choice, express-consent action, account entitlements, and request limits. It is not authorized merely by changing the interface language. The same data categories, recipients, retention, and privacy choices apply to content you provide for a translation as to other Will requests.
Speech and outside services: A spoken-language selection helps transcription recognize audio; transcription produces a draft in the spoken language, not an automatic translation into the interface language. Speech support depends on the service and device. External websites, payment or sign-in providers, embedded official documents, downloaded originals, and provider emails may have separate language options. Use Will to request a translation of private content you are authorized to provide.
Review before relying on a translation: Automated translations can misstate legal terms, names, dates, numbers, or meaning. They are not certified translations, legal advice, or court-approved interpretation. Preserve and compare the original, and obtain a qualified translator or interpreter where needed. Courts and receiving organizations determine accepted languages and certification requirements. The English source of these notices remains available for comparison; no translation provision limits a nonwaivable right or changes the privacy choices described here.
Storage, retention, and security
| Location or record | Retention and controls |
|---|---|
| Milieu account | Saved matter facts, profiles, file associations, review records, and related content remain until deleted or a valid removal request is completed, subject to lawful exceptions. Export and account deletion are available in Account details. Some records require assisted access or deletion. |
| Will request history | When you send a request, Milieu Legal privately saves your message, Will’s completed response and draft, request status, timestamps, and any matter association to your account. This history supports recovery, continuity, and request accounting without requiring connected file storage. Account export includes this history. Deleting your account removes it from active storage; deleting a matter removes the requests linked to that matter. Attachment files are not stored in this history. Device, connected-provider, and backup copies follow the separate controls described here. |
| Milieu ID evidence | Private identity images, face images or video, extracted document text and barcode details, permitted raw and decoded chip evidence and authentication records, and attorney evidence are available for up to 90 days from submission, unless removed sooner. Expired evidence and extracted details are blocked from retrieval and removed during subsequent cleanup. Account deletion removes these active-storage identity records. Minimal consent and attempt records, review decisions, audit entries, validity dates, and renewal status may remain while needed to administer account verification, resolve a dispute, or meet a legal duty. Raw identity data are not retained indefinitely merely because a minimal decision record remains. An approved badge can expire before or after its evidence is removed; the current review and document validity determine the badge. |
| Connected providers | Milieu storage files held in your connected Dropbox account, Zoom recordings, payment records, sign-in accounts, court records, and recipient copies follow their own controls and retention. Disconnecting removes Milieu’s stored connection; also revoke access in the provider’s settings. Deleting a Milieu account does not delete those outside copies. |
| Browser and device | Unsent text and imported files generally remain in the open page. Sign-in restoration can place text in session storage; stale copies are rejected after one hour when read, rather than erased by a timer. Recording recovery uses device storage and can survive sign-out and account deletion. Remove recovery recordings and downloads yourself, especially on a shared browser profile. |
| Language preferences and public translation cache | Your browser retains the language preference and cached public translations until cleared, replaced, or removed by browser storage controls. They are not private matter content. Reusable server translations contain approved public interface text, not your private translation requests to Will. Selecting English stops page translation; clearing site data removes the local preference and cache and can also remove other locally saved work. |
| Billing, usage, and safety | Minimal transaction, purchase, receipt, credit-accounting, usage, and security records can remain after account deletion for reconciliation, fraud prevention, disputes, and legal obligations. Some usage identifiers are pseudonymous rather than anonymous. Ask us which retained records apply and the reason and period for retention. |
| Shared activity and backups | Other users may keep authorized download-activity records and previously received copies. Hosting backups and provider security records can follow separate retention cycles or legal holds; deletion from active storage is not a promise of immediate erasure from every backup. |
Retention depends on the purpose, account status, relevant legal or accounting requirements, disputes, security needs, and provider settings. We limit retained information to what is needed for those purposes. You may request deletion of particular information without deleting your entire account.
The application uses authenticated, account-scoped access, server-side permission checks, and encryption for stored connection credentials. Authorized sharing changes who can retrieve information. Internet transmission, device storage, provider processing, and downloaded files carry security risks; no system can guarantee absolute security. Protect your account and devices, and report suspected exposure to legal@milieupower.com. Where a breach triggers a legal notice duty, affected people and authorities will be notified as required.
Cookies, preferences, and browser signals
Milieu Legal uses secure session and verification cookies for account access and one-time-code checks. Sign-in and hosting providers may also use cookies needed for authentication and security. The app uses local storage for accessibility, language, and processing preferences and public interface translations, session storage for sign-in restoration and purchase selections, and device database storage for recording recovery. The installed app caches a generic offline screen, not account responses or a saved copy of matters.
The homepage and TV landing page offer optional Vibe advertising measurement only after opt-in, as described above. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track disable those events and our first-party TV campaign measurement. They do not change essential account, security, or requested service processing. Use the control in the TV campaign measurement section to withdraw optional advertising measurement. Independent sites you visit can have different tracking practices. Browser controls can clear local data, but doing so may erase unsaved work.
Your privacy choices and requests
You can ask us to confirm processing, provide access or a portable copy, correct inaccurate information, delete information, withdraw consent, or address an applicable opt-out. You may contact us even if you do not have an account or your information was supplied by another person. We do not require a new account or paid membership to make a request.
Prepare an email to legal@milieupower.com. Opening or copying a draft does not submit a request. You must send the email.
Where possible, send from the email associated with your account. You can also write directly to legal@milieupower.com without using these fields.
Verification and response
Use your account email when possible and describe the request without attaching case evidence or identity documents. We may verify an existing sign-in, email control, or other proportionate information before releasing or deleting data. We use verification information for that purpose. Authorized agents and parents or guardians may contact us with the basis for their authority; we may need to verify it.
We respond without undue delay and within applicable legal deadlines. For requests covered by Indiana’s Consumer Data Protection Act, the period is 45 days, with one additional 45-day extension when permitted and explained within the initial period. Other laws may require a different or shorter response. We explain a denial, any permitted exception, and how to appeal. Requests are generally free; any legally permitted fee or refusal for excessive requests will be explained before charging.
To appeal, use the same email address with “Privacy appeal” in the subject and identify the original request and decision. For an Indiana statutory appeal, we provide a written decision with reasons within 60 days. You can also contact the Indiana Attorney General or your state privacy regulator. You do not need to waive that right to use the service.
We do not unlawfully discriminate or retaliate for exercising privacy rights. Some features need particular information to function, and deletion or consent withdrawal can make those features unavailable. A legal hold, another person’s rights, or a statutory retention duty may limit a particular request; we will explain the applicable reason.
State and international rights
Legal rights depend on your location, the data, and the law’s coverage requirements. Where applicable, California and other state laws may also provide rights to know categories and sources, recipient categories or specific third parties, limit certain sensitive-data uses, and opt out of sales, targeted advertising, or qualifying automated profiling. Milieu Legal does not use Super Intelligence to make decisions granting or denying legal representation, credit, employment, housing, or similar opportunities. Court-waiver eligibility review is performed by an authorized person.
Indiana’s Act took effect January 1, 2026 and has business-coverage thresholds and exemptions. This notice provides request routes without representing that every state statute applies to every account. Where European, UK, or other privacy laws apply, you may also have rights to restriction, objection, consent withdrawal, and a complaint to your supervisory authority. Processing must have an applicable legal basis, such as providing a requested service, consent, a legal obligation, or a permitted legitimate interest.
Account deletion and subscriptions
Account details includes an export and a “Delete account content” option. Exported account records do not contain every original file or every retained operational record; download originals separately and contact us for additional access. Delete account and cancel billing cancels linked Milieu Legal subscriptions before deleting your account data, without waiting for the paid period to end. Confirming deletion ends account access immediately and does not issue an automatic refund. If cancellation cannot be confirmed, your account data is kept for a retry; any completed cancellation remains in effect. Uninstalling the app does not cancel billing. Provider files and browser/device copies require separate cleanup.
Indiana health data privacy
This section addresses health-related personal information under Indiana’s Consumer Data Protection Act (IC 24-15), effective January 1, 2026. Its statutory protections apply when the law’s coverage requirements are met, subject to its thresholds and exemptions. Our general privacy notice and any other nonwaivable protections under applicable law remain in effect.
Categories and sources: We may receive health conditions, diagnoses, treatment information, disability information, health-related financial or legal records, and inferences apparent from content you choose to provide. Sources are you, someone lawfully acting for you, your selected files or connected services, and records supplied for your requested legal-document work. Indiana specifically treats personal data revealing a mental or physical health diagnosis made by a health care provider as sensitive data (IC 24-15-2-28). We do not request continuous location monitoring or use health-facility geofencing.
Purposes and recipients: Health information is processed to provide the document, storage, transcription, Super Intelligence, support, or review function you request. Hosting providers and authorized processors may process the information needed for that function. OpenAI receives it if you authorize Super Intelligence processing or transcription; Dropbox receives files you save to Milieu storage through your connected account; authorized reviewers receive a waiver order or report you submit; recipients receive information you explicitly share. We do not sell health information or use it for advertising.
Consent and control: Where Indiana’s Act applies, we obtain consent before processing sensitive data, subject to statutory exceptions. Consent requires a freely chosen, informed, specific, and unambiguous affirmative action (IC 24-15-2-7 and IC 24-15-4-1). Accepting general terms or leaving a processing setting enabled does not alone provide that consent. Use the separate Super Intelligence and transcription choices to control those features, and contact us to withdraw consent or request deletion of stored information. Permission for your requested function does not authorize unrelated use. Do not provide another person’s health information without the necessary authority or legally required consent.
Your Indiana rights: For covered requests, you may confirm processing; access or receive a portable copy or representative summary of information you previously provided; correct inaccuracies in information you previously provided; request deletion of information provided by or obtained about you; and opt out of targeted advertising, data sales, or profiling used for legally or similarly significant decisions. These rights are subject to the Act’s conditions and exceptions. Use Your privacy choices without creating a new account or buying a membership. Covered requests receive a response within 45 days, with one additional 45-day extension when permitted and explained within the initial period. Appeals receive a written decision with reasons within 60 days. We do not unlawfully discriminate for exercising privacy rights.
Questions, appeals, and complaints: Email legal@milieupower.com and identify the request without attaching medical evidence. To appeal a decision, use “Privacy appeal” as the subject and identify the original request. You may submit a complaint through the Indiana Attorney General’s complaint page, which includes the CDPA complaint form. Read the official Indiana Consumer Data Bill of Rights for additional guidance. This notice does not create a HIPAA business-associate agreement; organizations requiring one must arrange appropriate terms before submitting protected health information.
Terms of use
Eligibility and agreement
Online accounts and direct use of the online tools are intended for people age 18 or older who can enter an agreement. This restriction does not apply to the native iPhone and iPad app’s account-free local document tools. When creating an online account, you accept these terms and acknowledge the privacy notice. New online accounts use email and phone verification and collect a username and contact information. An OpenAI login is not required. One-time codes confirm control of a contact channel; they do not by themselves verify a person’s identity or a law license. Using a professional account requires authority to act for the organization or client concerned. Keep account information accurate and protect access to your email, phone, devices, and verification codes.
The online service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information directly, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate deletion or other legally required action. An adult may handle a family matter involving a child only with lawful authority and appropriate safeguards.
Technology and information, with your review
Milieu Legal is a technology and legal-information service, not a law firm, court, government agency, or legal referral service. Will is a Super Intelligence assistant, not a licensed attorney. Use does not create an attorney-client relationship or guarantee privilege. Representation requires a separate agreement with a licensed lawyer. Milieu ID identity approval and attorney authorization approval are separate reviews. A claimed attorney role alone earns neither badge. A badge describes the service’s recorded approval and validity, not a guarantee of competence, court endorsement, or representation of another user.
You remain responsible for facts, citations, deadlines, jurisdiction, venue, confidentiality, required redactions, signatures, fees, and service. Super Intelligence can make mistakes, omit law, or generate inaccurate authorities. Verify sources and review the final exported document. Automated document checks do not certify legal sufficiency, filing readiness, or an outcome. Seek a qualified lawyer for advice on your circumstances.
Milieu Cite, accuracy, and hallucinations
Milieu Cite provides automated matching and research for supported case, statute, regulation, constitutional, and court-rule citations, later-treatment signals for supported cases, law and rule source checks, and document-correction tools. Milieu Cite and related Will or Super Intelligence output can be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, misleading, or fabricated. Fabricated or unsupported material, sometimes called hallucinations, can include nonexistent cases or citations, invented quotations, incorrect pinpoints, and false descriptions of holdings, legal rules, or subsequent treatment. A citation checker can miss these errors or incorrectly flag accurate material. A source link, match, badge, completed checklist, or confident wording does not guarantee correctness.
Limits of judicial support and treatment signals: “Judicial support verified” means the automated review detected explicit judicial support and the completed indexed search found no adverse signal, limited to the opinions reviewed and the coverage shown. It is not court certification, an attorney’s opinion, or a guarantee that the authority remains good law, is binding, or applies to your facts or jurisdiction. The tool may misclassify approval, rejection, criticism, or other treatment. An ordinary later citation does not establish approval; no detected negative treatment does not establish that none exists. “Not found” does not establish that an authority is fabricated. A matched case can contain overruled or superseded holdings.
For statutes, regulations, constitutional provisions, and court rules, the citation review reports authority-specific checks separately from case-treatment findings. Locating source text or an effective-date label does not establish current enforceability, applicability, or the absence of adverse judicial treatment. Those matches alone do not establish current legal effect.
Coverage depends on accessible sources, supported citation formats, indexing, retrieval limits, and the time of the check. Sources may share records or be incomplete, delayed, unavailable, or subject to access restrictions. Unsupported law or rule formats, short-form citations, ambiguous rule names, new or unpublished decisions, and text missed during document extraction may require separate research. A matching law or rule provision does not establish that its version applies to the relevant date or proceeding. Effective dates, amendments, repeal, supersession, local variations, and judicial treatment can require additional review; unresolved checks are identified in the results. Results are a snapshot, not continuous monitoring or an exhaustive citator opinion. Milieu Cite is independent of commercial citators and does not include their proprietary results merely because they are linked.
Your review is required: Before relying on, sharing, serving, or filing a document, independently read the original authorities and verify each citation, quotation, pinpoint, holding, jurisdiction, subsequent history, current legal status, and relevance to the asserted proposition. Check adverse treatment and court requirements, and consult a qualified lawyer where needed. You remain responsible for submissions, deadlines, signatures, confidentiality, redactions, and compliance with professional and court rules. Using Milieu Cite does not transfer those obligations to us or excuse an inaccurate filing.
Keep the original and review every corrected export. DOCX and PDF outputs retain the original file type when supported, but extraction, replacement, and rendering can omit content, introduce errors, or affect appearance. Some edits are blocked to protect the source document; longer DOCX text can reflow and PDF replacements have additional limits. No export guarantees identical layout, valid signatures, accessibility, legal sufficiency, or acceptance by a court. Downloading or preparing a corrected file does not file it or complete service.
The viewer preserves supported source formatting, but a DOCX browser preview may differ from Word when fonts, pagination, or document features are unavailable. PDF previews render the source pages. If a correction cannot be exported while preserving the source, the viewer identifies that limitation rather than presenting an outdated preview as current. Review the final file before filing.
Disclaimer of warranties and liability for inaccuracies and hallucinations. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Milieu Cite and related research, corrections, and Super Intelligence outputs are provided “as is” and “as available,” without express or implied warranties of accuracy, completeness, currentness, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or any legal result.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, HOME MILIEU LLC, doing business as Milieunomics Institute and operating Milieu Legal, and its officers, employees, and agents disclaim all liability for any loss, damage, claim, cost, or expense arising from or relating to inaccuracies, omissions, hallucinations, fabricated or misidentified authorities, incorrect treatment signals, missed adverse authority, document extraction or correction errors, or use of or reliance on Milieu Cite or related outputs. This includes direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, and punitive damages; rejected filings, sanctions, missed deadlines, adverse case outcomes, lost claims or opportunities, and additional legal expenses, whether a claim is based on contract, tort (including the ordinary negligence of HOME MILIEU LLC or its officers, employees, or agents), or another legal theory, even if the possibility of such loss was disclosed.
Rights and liabilities that cannot be waived remain in force. These disclaimers apply only to the extent lawful. They do not exclude or limit liability for fraud or intentional or willful misconduct. They also do not exclude or limit liability for gross negligence or any other conduct where applicable law prohibits exclusion or limitation. They do not waive nonwaivable consumer, privacy, or other statutory rights, relieve us of applicable data-protection duties, or prevent a complaint to a regulator. If a limitation is unenforceable, it applies only to the extent permitted by law.
Filing, hearings, and external services
In-site court submission is not currently available. Drafting, exporting, checking, sharing, or clicking a filing link does not file a document or complete legal service. Submission, service, and clerk acceptance are separate events; rely on provider receipts and court notices. Court orders control hearing dates and deadlines. Calendar reminders, recordings, and tracking may be incomplete or delayed.
New online account setup offers Milieu ID evidence submission for administrator review. Successful capture is not a condition of creating the account: use the 30-second or earlier failure fallback described above to continue unverified. A chip scan, where available, supplements the required document images. The identity verification mark appears only after approval and while the review remains current. Attorney verification requires a separate approved submission. Keep your identification, professional authorization, and contact details current, and respond to replacement or renewal requests if you seek or maintain verification. Future in-site filing still requires authorized integrations and applicable verification. Provider activation status, fees, account requirements, and independent terms apply. Naming a provider does not imply certification, endorsement, or an unestablished partnership.
Your content and permitted use
You retain your rights in the content you provide. You grant the limited permission needed to host, copy, transmit, format, process, and display it to perform your requested functions and meet applicable legal duties. This permission does not grant ownership of your case materials or authorize unrelated advertising or model training. Super Intelligence output may be nonunique, inaccurate, or subject to third-party rights.
Provide only content you may lawfully use. Do not fabricate evidence, impersonate someone, infringe rights, harass people, abuse court processes, bypass access controls, or use the service for unlawful surveillance. Obtain required recording consent and court permission. You are responsible for authorized access and confidentiality when using the service for another person.
Availability, suspension, and consumer protections
Features depend on provider availability, account status, quotas, device capability, and network access. Keep independent copies of important work. We may restrict access for material misuse, security risks, or legal requirements, with notice and a reasonable opportunity to address the issue where appropriate. Contact us to contest a restriction or obtain available account information.
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided as available without warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted operation, or a legal result. To that same extent, HOME MILIEU LLC and Milieu Legal disclaim liability for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses. The Milieu Cite accuracy and hallucination terms also apply to citation research and related outputs. All disclaimers are subject to the nonwaivable-rights and liability protections stated there. Nothing excludes liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, or limits nonwaivable privacy and consumer rights. These terms do not impose mandatory arbitration or a class-action waiver.
Indiana law governs these terms to the extent permitted, while mandatory protections and forum rights under applicable law remain available. Contact us first if practical to resolve a concern; this does not restrict your right to contact a regulator, seek legal advice, or pursue a lawful remedy.
Membership, payments, and cancellation
Free and paid memberships
Free is a permanent, no-card-required plan. It includes available document preparation, editing, exports, research resources, case organization, Milieu storage connections, and 10 Will requests per calendar month, with a maximum of 5 per day. Plus is $29 monthly or $290 annually and includes 75 monthly requests, up to 15 per day. Pro is $79 monthly or $790 annually and includes 250 monthly requests, up to 35 per day. Premium is $199 monthly or $1,990 annually and includes 750 monthly requests, up to 75 per day. These are individual account plans. Annual amounts are charged in one payment. Prices are in USD; applicable taxes are displayed at checkout.
A completed Will response is one request. Monthly limits reset on the first day of each calendar month at midnight UTC, including annual memberships; daily limits reset at midnight UTC. Unused included requests do not roll over. Purchased extra requests carry over. Failed requests that do not return a response are released from the allowance. Plan changes do not reset usage. Document editing and access to existing work do not end when the Will allowance is reached.
Paid memberships automatically renew at the chosen interval until canceled. Manage subscription opens the secure payment portal for invoices, payment details, available plan changes, and cancellation. Cancel before renewal to stop future charges. Access continues through the paid period, then returns to Free. Any plan-change charge is displayed before confirmation. Court costs, process-server charges, external provider subscriptions, attorney services, and third-party filing fees are separate. In-site court submission is not currently available. Website payments are processed by Stripe. Where purchasing is available in the Android app, purchases are processed by Google Play; Milieu does not store card numbers. Google Play displays its localized price, taxes, billing period, and any plan-change adjustment before confirmation. Manage and cancel Google Play subscriptions in Google Play. A Google Play purchase is linked to the signed-in Milieu Legal account and can be used on the website with that same account. Restore purchases checks that account’s receipts; purchases cannot be transferred to another Milieu account. Subscription refunds, cancellation, and disputes also follow Google Play’s applicable terms. Refunded request packs lose their unused requests. Milieu stores encrypted purchase tokens, purchase identifiers, product and subscription state, renewal and expiry information, and a request-credit ledger for verification, restores, renewals, fraud prevention, and refunds. Minimal financial and entitlement records may remain after account deletion for reconciliation and legal obligations. The Delete account and cancel billing confirmation cancels linked Milieu Legal subscriptions before deleting account data and ends account access immediately, including remaining paid access. No automatic refund is issued. If cancellation cannot be confirmed, account data is kept for a retry; any completed cancellation remains in effect. Provider files and unrelated subscriptions are unchanged. Charges and refunds remain subject to applicable law and the disclosed purchase terms. Saving a plan preference does not create a subscription, charge a card, or grant paid access. Membership preferences and usage counts are stored with your account.
Extra Will requests
Optional one-time packs cost $5 for 10 requests, $25 for 50, or $50 for 100. This rate exceeds the per-request rate of every published monthly and annual membership. Packs do not renew or change your membership. Included monthly requests are consumed before purchased requests. Unused purchased requests carry over between months and plan changes while your account remains available. Your plan’s daily limit applies to both included and purchased requests. Extra requests are added only after payment is confirmed; a failed response releases its request back to the original allowance. Purchases are tied to your account and cannot be transferred. Prices are in USD. Charges and refunds remain subject to applicable law and the terms shown at checkout.
Fee assistance and free tool access
A court-approved fee-waiver order qualifies a user for no-charge access to all available Milieu tools after an authorized human verifies the order. Users cannot approve their own status. The Milieu benefit waives Milieu preparation and filing service fees, not charges owed to other parties. A completed waiver application is a request, not court approval. The court may grant full or partial relief from prepayment, deny the request, or address costs later. The order controls the scope of court relief. Local requirements and separate appellate rules may apply. An access request submitted to Milieu does not submit anything to a court or suspend deadlines. If you already have a paid subscription, cancel it through Manage subscription to stop renewals.
Paid and waiver accounts have the same tool availability and fair-use safeguards. Approved-waiver users receive 750 Will requests per calendar month, up to 75 per day. Rate limits protect availability; free access does not mean unlimited processing, attorney representation, or guaranteed court outcomes.
For a billing error or refund request, contact legal@milieupower.com. Refund rights required by law are preserved. We will disclose material subscription changes before they apply and obtain consent when required; changes do not authorize an undisclosed charge.
Feature-specific privacy and use details
Language controls and translated interactions
The language control changes supported public interface text and sets the preferred language for future Will responses. Existing messages, entered answers, document drafts, official forms, and original files remain in their original language. Ask Will expressly if you want their contents translated, then review the result before saving or using it. Page translation is available without a membership upgrade; Will requests keep their normal account and usage requirements. See Languages and translation for processing, storage, and accuracy details.
Milieu ID, attorney evidence, and account access
New online accounts verify email and phone contact channels, choose a username, and provide contact details without needing an OpenAI login. Milieu ID is offered for private identity review. If a document attempt or the complete headshot and head-turn capture cannot finish within 30 seconds, you can continue with an unverified account and retry later. Unsupported readers, permission denials, and capture failures can offer an earlier exit. Skipping does not approve identity or attorney status or automatically upload unfinished camera evidence.
The separately consented Milieu ID process stores front and back ID images or a passport identity-page image and live face evidence privately for administrator review. Supplemental passport-chip evidence is available only through a compatible enabled native reader and never replaces document images. A standard browser cannot read passport chips; an Indiana license or REAL ID designation does not establish NFC compatibility. Available capture, extraction, and chip-authentication results remain separate from human identity approval. Identity and attorney approval create separate marks that expire with the recorded validity or review date. Read Milieu ID and attorney review for consent, data categories, availability, private evidence access, 90-day retention, and renewal.
The native iPhone and iPad app’s local document tools remain account-free. Choosing its separate online service opens the web account and verification flow; it does not itself enable passport-chip reading. The Android online workspace uses the same account and review service as the website. Installing an app or enabling NFC does not establish that a compatible chip-reader integration is present.
Camera, files, and document preparation
Camera access starts after you select it and grant permission; video may also request the microphone. For ordinary document preparation, captured photos and selected files stay in the page until you choose a destination. The separately consented Milieu ID flow uploads its evidence privately for review as described above. In-page video and Transcribe recordings use device recovery storage when available, including after sign-out. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to recover them. Browser clearing, eviction, interruptions, battery, and available storage affect recovery and recording duration. Save a separate copy and remove recovery data on shared devices.
Upload to Will prepares selected files for review. Supported documents are extracted, images may be resized, and videos use sampled timestamped frames and a transcript where audio extraction is available. Audio preparation needs the separate transcription choice and may transmit audio before the final Send action. Samples do not represent every video moment. Large groups remain queued for later messages. Unsupported analysis formats can still be saved to Milieu storage.
Save to Milieu saves original files without converting their contents and creates private matter-file associations. Milieu storage uses your connected Dropbox account. It requires a free account, saved matter, that provider connection, and sufficient provider storage. The per-file limit is 2 TB, subject to provider limits. Uploads use chunks, retries, and progress; a paused transfer needs the same open page and file, and upload sessions expire after 24 hours. Removing a staged file does not delete a saved copy or change its permissions. Original-file storage uses no Will request.
The Document Editor exports supported formatting to DOCX and PDF. Text extraction may omit images, tables, or layout. Word can substitute unavailable fonts; review page breaks, captions, confidential identifiers, required signatures, and court-specific formatting. Original files remain separate from editable copies. Saving a full matter backup can include the draft and conversation as well as matter details.
Dictation and recordings
Microphone capture requires a deliberate action and device permission. Dictate records up to five minutes, then sends audio to OpenAI when you stop and have enabled transcription. The resulting text enters the message box for review; Send is separate. Dictate does not automatically save audio to Milieu storage. Failed audio can be retried, downloaded, or discarded while retained by the page. Closing or reloading can lose unsaved text and audio.
Keep the page visible while recording. Switching pages or matters can stop capture. Browser live dictation, where available as a separate fallback, may use the browser vendor’s speech service. Audio handling by Milieu’s endpoints occurs in memory; provider retention still applies. Transcription has fair-use limits and ordinarily does not consume Will response credits; transcript output and a separate chat request have the charges below.
Where offered, choose the language spoken in the recording or allow automatic detection. A language selection is a recognition hint, not a guarantee of accurate identification or support for every dialect. Review the source-language transcript before asking Will for a separate translation; changing the site language does not translate a recording.
Audio and video transcripts
Transcribe sends short audio sections to OpenAI while you record or process imported media with transcription enabled. It produces an editable, uncertified draft. In-page originals remain in device recovery storage until removed; imported files and reviewed text stay in the page unless saved. Processing can pause and resume on that page. There is no fixed recording timer; device capability and storage govern. Signed-in users can process up to 24 hours daily subject to hourly limits; guests have lower limits. Unsupported codecs may require conversion.
Add to Will stages the typed source-language transcript and supported video samples for review before Send and is free; it does not require PDF generation. Saving transcript output to Milieu storage or downloading it to your device uses one Will request per transcript text version after preparation. Retrying or saving the same version to another destination or court format reuses that completion request. Revised transcript text uses another request; subsequent analysis by Will is separate. Recording, review, and saving original media remain free within fair-use limits. The completion ledger stores an accounting hash, not the transcript text.
PDF generation occurs when exporting or saving transcript output. If the selected court PDF font cannot display the transcript’s characters, the export preserves the original text in editable Word, text, and JSON review files instead. The Word fallback does not reproduce the selected court layout and is not a certified transcript; obtain any required court-ready version before filing.
Record only with the permission and consent required by law and the court. Review speech, speaker labels, omitted passages, and confidential material. A formatted draft is not a certified court reporter’s transcript, sworn deposition, or automatically signed court record. No oath, signature, or certification is created automatically.
Zoom meetings and recording
Connecting Zoom authorizes selected meeting actions and sends meeting titles and schedules. Automatic recording is selected by default when scheduling or attaching a hosted meeting and requires your recording authorization. Court hearings require court permission and appropriate host access. Recording notices and participant consent remain your responsibility.
Recordings stay in Zoom cloud storage where available or on the host’s computer. Computer recording requires the Zoom desktop app; browser and mobile clients cannot make local recordings. Zoom’s plan, settings, transcription, and retention rules apply. The matter owner can retrieve available cloud recordings and transcripts through authenticated requests. They are not automatically shared with matter members or copied to Milieu storage. Removing a saved meeting or disconnecting does not cancel it or delete recordings. Disabling automatic recording affects future starts, not an ongoing recording.
Matter files, Milieu storage, and recipients
Private matter links do not automatically grant access. Adding a contact stores their name, email, and role for recipient selection. Explicit sharing may invite selected people as viewers or editors, create provider links, or use a tracked Milieu link. Public links can be forwarded. Folder, group, team, and existing link permissions may grant additional access. A failed invitation is never silently converted into a public link.
Renaming and deleting files in Milieu storage change the actual item in your connected Dropbox account; unlinking removes only the Milieu association. The current workspace backup and protected matter folders have additional deletion restrictions. Recovery and version restoration depend on Dropbox. Accepted matter connections show explicitly shared items and authorized calendar/tracking data. Removing a matter member does not revoke separate Dropbox permissions; review provider access too. A described court role does not verify credentials or constitute filing, service, or court authorization.
People search and direct matter messages
Directory participation and each supported public or searchable profile field are controlled in your profile privacy settings. Email and phone searches require an exact permitted match; private fields and review evidence stay hidden. A matching account can be selected as a matter contact, then invited to connect. Acceptance and active membership are required for matter access. Direct messages stay within the matter and are limited to the sender and selected authorized recipient. Removing a member stops future service access; it does not recall prior copies or revoke separately granted provider permissions.
Timed sharing and download activity
Tracked sharing retrieves originals from the sharer’s Milieu storage in their connected Dropbox account and requires sign-in, including for anyone-with-link access. Selected recipients must sign in with the designated email. The sharer controls expiry and revocation and sends the link. A contact or saved matter alone does not share a file.
For tracked downloads, the sharer can view and export the recipient’s sign-in name and email, file name and revision, request time, bytes transferred, and server delivery status. A completed transfer does not prove a file was saved. Records remain with the sharer’s matter until that matter or account is deleted; deleting the recipient’s account does not remove the sharer’s records. Revocation prevents future tracked retrieval, not previously downloaded copies or access granted separately. Activity outside this path is not comprehensively tracked by Milieu.
Calendar, court tracking, and PACER
Connecting a source authorizes checks for related events or docket entries and sharing resulting matter information with accepted members. Calendar subscription addresses and CourtListener tokens are encrypted on the server. Use a dedicated matter calendar. Background checks require an active scheduled connection; last-check status is shown. MyCase automation requires authorized bulk access; public MyCase pages and attorney registries are not scraped. PACER RSS and RECAP coverage may be incomplete and do not replace the official docket. Tracking does not purchase paid PACER records.
The PACER connection flow forwards your entered login, password, optional authentication code, and client code to PACER. The application does not save the password or authentication code. It stores an encrypted session token and client code; the token’s validity is limited to 12 hours. Disconnect to remove the stored connection. Use that dedicated flow, never chat, for PACER credentials.
Review external hearings before confirming them. Private calendar subscription URLs are bearer links: someone holding one can read confirmed titles, times, notes, locations, and joining links while authorized access remains. Revoking a feed or membership stops future access but cannot recall provider copies. Downloaded calendar files are snapshots; subscriptions refresh on the receiving provider’s schedule. Optional email notifications can be changed in Calendar & tracking.
Super Intelligence reports and waiver review
Report response lets you select and redact text before submitting an incorrect, unsafe, or inappropriate Super Intelligence response. We retain that selected text, your note, reason, account identifier, and review outcome for authorized safety reviewers. Other messages and original attachments are not automatically included. Reporting is free. Reports remain until account deletion or a handled deletion request, subject to applicable legal duties.
Submitting a court-approved waiver order gives authorized human reviewers access to the complete uploaded order in Milieu storage through your connected Dropbox account or in legacy platform storage. We retain court and case identifiers, review status, and notes for eligibility decisions. Keep your Milieu storage connection active while a review is pending. A waiver application alone is not an approved order or a court submission.
Installed app and Android security
The installed app uses the same service and account. Internet is needed for Super Intelligence, saved matters, and connected features. Its offline cache contains a generic screen, not your account, files, or messages. Camera and microphone access require permission.
Supported Android releases use Google Play Integrity when activated. Google processes app, installation, licensing, and device-integrity information. The request digest does not contain your matter, document, message, or account identity. Milieu records aggregate results; rotating security challenges and rate-limit identifiers expire and are cleared during subsequent active checks, and aggregate result counters expire after seven days and are cleared on later checks. These particular integrity counters are distinct from other account usage and security records described above.
For assistance removing a particular record or understanding its recipient, use Your privacy choices.
Changes, questions, and assistance
We identify revisions with the effective date above. For material changes to terms or information practices, we will provide a prominent notice in the service or through an available account contact before the change takes effect when required. We will obtain fresh consent when legally required for a new purpose or materially different use. Posting revised text does not retroactively authorize an incompatible use of previously collected information.
This revision adds the 30-second capture-failure exit, continued access with an unverified account, supplemental RFID/NFC evidence through a compatible enabled reader, and the corresponding consent, private-record, and retention disclosures. It clarifies that chip evidence does not replace document images or administrator approval and that REAL ID does not itself establish chip compatibility. Existing email and phone verification, separate attorney review, Milieu Cite terms, processing choices, app distinctions, health privacy rights, appeals, and nonwaivable protections remain in effect. New identity processing requires the consent shown before capture; posting these terms does not retroactively authorize a new use of previously collected data.
For privacy, security, billing, accessible-format copies, or questions about these terms, email legal@milieupower.com. For legal help, visit Indiana Legal Help. For court-specific matters, use the official court directory. This service does not pause a deadline or provide emergency assistance.
